They may only have 20 wins this NBA season, but the future is extremely bright for the Detroit Pistons. While they are currently in the midst of a rebuild, the Pistons have surprisingly played quite well since the All-Star break, going 7-8 and picking up wins over the likes of the Cavaliers, Raptors and Hawks (twice).
Rookie Cade Cunningham has already proven that he is one of the best young talents in the league and Saddiq Bey is starting to prove his worth as a key scoring weapon on this roster, as Bey recently went for a career-high 51 points on 10-14 shooting from three-point range against the Magic last week.
General manager Troy Weaver was hired by the Pistons in 2020 and he inherited a mess of a roster, but he and the rest of the Pistons’ front-office have done a really good job of assembling young talents, as well as gathering future assets via draft picks.
Entering the offseason, the Pistons are not necessarily going to be in a “good” position to immediately turn things around, but they will be facing a crossroads in which the right moves could push them closer to taking the next step towards the play-in tournament.

Detroit is projected to enter the offseason roughly $30 million below the tax line for the 2022-23 season and there are several questions that they will need to answer, the first pertaining to Jerami Grant and his long-term future with the Pistons.
