Does this trade make sense for the Memphis Grizzlies?
The only way this trade makes sense for the Memphis Grizzlies is if they are already planning on letting Dillon Brooks walk away in free agency following the 2022-23 season.
Entering the offseason, Brooks will be in the final year of his contract. While he has been useful when healthy, he has missed a ton of games this season and Desmond Bane has really stepped up on the wing.
Maybe Kyle Anderson being a free agent will result in the Grizzlies keeping Dillon Brooks on a new, long-term deal, but the idea of moving him right now for an upgrade to go and chase a potential title is not a bad idea whatsoever.
It is a long-shot to believe that the Grizzlies will give up on Dillon Brooks so easily, especially after they have not given the time of day to trade offers for him in the past, but Jerami Grant will also be in the final year of his contract and would not only be a possibility as a long-term option for this organization on the wing, but should he walk in free agency, Memphis would suddenly have $20 million to play around with.

This is definitely not a bad trade for Memphis, however, it is hard to imagine that they will actually go through with it.
