Buddy Hield – Indiana Pacers
Building off the idea of adding more three-point shooting, Buddy Hield has been and remains a possible key trade target for the Dallas Mavericks.
There were some discussions earlier this season about the Mavericks’ interest in adding a player like Hield, but trade talk never proceeded past initial “feel out” offers.
Perimeter shooting has been a problem for the Mavericks this season and the last few years, which is why someone like Buddy Hield could really open up their offense.
Since the 2017-18 season, Hield leads the league in made threes with 1,229 made three-pointers and prior to being traded to the Pacers, Buddy Hield was one of the better bench players in the NBA.

With the Pacers this season, Buddy Hield has proven that he can be more than just a three-point shooter, as the 29-year-old wing is averaging 19.3 points, 5.5 rebounds, 5.4 assists, and shooting 46.5% from the floor in 14 games with Indiana.
Proving to be an all-around offensive talent that can score from the perimeter and dish out assists at a high rate as well, Buddy Hield’s fit in Dallas would be perfect, especially given that his contract is affordable.
Making $39 million through the 2023-24 season, the Mavericks could easily move one of their bigger contracts for Hield and the Pacers could possibly be looking to move him in the offseason for future value given that they have taken a step back as a franchise.
