Gordon Hayward – Charlotte Hornets
When evaluating the Dallas Mavericks’ offense, it is clear to see that they not only have no playmakers on the wing but that they struggle from beyond the arc.
Dallas ranks just 21st in the league this season in three-point shooting percentage as a team and Luka Doncic is the only player on this roster that can create plays for himself, as everyone else relies on Doncic to make plays for them.
Finding a key secondary scorer and playmaker will be tough for the Mavericks to do, but Gordon Hayward is a veteran player and former All-Star that could very well be available in trade talks heading into the offseason.
Charlotte has loved the production they have received from Gordon Hayward over the last year or so, but they may have to cut his contract in order to keep restricted free agent Miles Bridges long-term.

The Mavericks would have a hard time figuring out a way to bring in the remaining $61.5 million on Gordon Hayward’s contract, however, he is exactly the kind of experienced player they could utilize on the wing.
The last two seasons in Charlotte, Hayward has averaged 17.8 points, 5.2 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and has shot 40.2% from three-point range.
Proving to still be an all-around impactful offensive-minded talent, Gordon Hayward would be a solid complementary player for Luka Doncic to lean on for support and Hayward would help elevate a lackluster Mavericks’ offensive attack.

Again though, money would be a big problem in a trade scenario here for the Mavericks and there are no early indications that the Hornets are even going to be looking to move on from Hayward in the offseason.
Finding ways to improve offensively needs to be a point of emphasis for the Dallas Mavericks in the offseason, which is why Gordon Hayward would be a really good option for them in terms of talent.
