Los Angeles Lakers Receive: G/F Eric Gordon
Houston Rockets Receive: G Kendrick Nunn, G Talen Horton-Tucker
The first order of business for the Lakers this upcoming offseason will be to figure out a way to move Russell Westbrook.
There have been talks about a possible deal between the Lakers and Rockets involving Russell Westbrook and John Wall, so that could be one way for Los Angeles to end up with Eric Gordon, but they could also look to acquire him individually should trade talks involving Westbrook and Wall fall apart.
Entering the offseason, the Lakers are projected to be well over the salary cap right now and over the luxury tax threshold as well.
Taking on Eric Gordon’s $19.5 million contract for next season will not be easy for the Lakers to do, but trading Talen Horton-Tucker and Kendrick Nunn could open the door for this franchise to bring in Gordon.

After giving Horton-Tucker a three-year, $30.7 million deal, the Lakers are beginning to have second thoughts due to the fact that the young shooting guard has not been a primary contributor.
Cap space is vital to championship-contending teams and with Talen Horton-Tucker owed a total of $30.7 million through the 2023-24 season, the Lakers would be smart to try and move him for a more experienced contributor on the wing.
As for Kendrick Nunn, he has not played at all this season due to a bone bruise in his knee and with him having a $5.2 million player option for next season, Nunn is as good as “dead cap” for the Lakers.
The Rockets do not get any draft picks in this trade, which could be the reason for declining this trade, but Houston is rebuilding and may be interested in adding Horton-Tucker and Nunn, who are 21 and 26, respectively.
