Entering the 2021-22 NBA season, the Brooklyn Nets looked like the clear-cut championship favorites with Kevin Durant, James Harden and Kyrie Irving.
However, the Nets have faced a lot of injuries this season, Kyrie Irving has only played in 16 games due to New York City’s vaccine requirements and James Harden is now a member of the Philadelphia 76ers.
So much change has happened within the Nets’ organization over the last several months and now, they are currently 32-33 on the season, below .500 for the first-time since they were 1-2 this year.
Utilizing 19 different players in their starting lineup this season, as well as playing a total of 24 different players through the year, the Nets have had a lot of roster turnover this season, leading to questions about their chances of competing for a title.

Concern is definitely starting to set in for the Brooklyn Nets, but they are definitely not showing it. Head coach Steve Nash has been staying optimistic in terms of his team’s chances to compete at the highest-level possible and GM Sean Marks has come out and stated on multiple occasions that the goal this season is still to win a championship.
Anytime Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving are on the floor, the Nets certainly have a chance to compete for a championship, but time is currently running out in the regular season.
With the Nets being in the play-in tournament picture right now and still dealing with a handful of injury concerns, things are not looking good for a franchise that was once looked at as the “team to beat” during the 2021-22 season.

While they can certainly turn things around before the play-in tournament, it does appear as the Nets will have to earn their playoff spot this season and then face one of the better teams in the Eastern Conference.
The rest of the way for the Nets this year is not going to be easy and they should definitely be more concerned with where they are as a franchise.
