Ben Simmons Has Yet To Make His Team-Debut

The Brooklyn Nets have 17 games remaining on their schedule and Ben Simmons has yet to make his debut with the Nets. This has to be a very concerning thing for the entire Nets organization to think about because they cannot expect Simmons to be thrown into a “winner-takes-all” play-in game and be successful immediately.

It will take time for Ben Simmons to get comfortable playing next to the likes of Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving and without this chemistry, it is hard to believe the Nets will be able to run a “pick-up” style of play and win games in the playoffs.

Now, anytime you have Kevin Durant on your roster you have a very good chance of winning any game, but the fact of the matter is that Durant cannot single-handedly carry the Nets this season in a loaded Eastern Conference.

The Heat, 76ers, Bulls, Bucks and Celtics all look like championship contending teams this season and even younger teams like the Cavaliers and Hornets will not be easy teams to beat.

Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, if eligible to play, improve the Nets’ chances of advancing in the postseason greatly, but this team desperately needs that third key piece and Ben Simmons still remains without a timetable for his return to action due to a back injury.

The teams that have won championships over the years are the ones that not only have depth, but have a strong connection with one another. Building chemistry throughout the regular season and going through losses and tough parts of the schedule together is what builds a championship team.

Even the 1997-98 Chicago Bulls, one of the greatest teams in NBA history led by Michael Jordan lost games, but they took these losses and learned from them, building chemistry with one another every single day.

For the Nets, it seems like they have a new lineup every single day because of injuries right now and Ben Simmons could fix a lot of their problems.

His lingering back issue is definitely a cause for concern and while Nets’ fans keep brushing it off by saying “he’ll be back sooner than later,” the team is running out of time to get him on the court this season.
