Seattle Is One Of The Biggest Sports Markets In The Nation

Seattle is one of the most populated metropolitan areas in the United States and the largest media market in the nation without an NBA franchise.

According to Sports Media Watch, Seattle ranks 12th out of 69 total cities containing a professional sports team in regards to their homes and market size.

The fan bases of the Seahawks, Kraken and Sounders are all consistently high and amongst their own league-highs, which is why bringing the SuperSonics by to Seattle would work wonders for the NBA.

There is already an established fan base in Seattle for the SuperSonics and already being a big sports market, the NBA would not have to worry about the long-term success of the franchise.

While the Sonics did move from Seattle to Oklahoma City in 2008, this was because of an ownership change and the fact that the city would not publicly finance a new arena.

Now, with a newly renovated arena that they could share with the Seattle Kraken, the SuperSonics could easily return and immediately have one of the top-half fan bases in the league.
