LeBron James’ Future In The NBA Will Be Decided By His Son

When he retires, LeBron James will go down as one of the greatest players in NBA history and while Father Time is catching up to James quickly, “The King” still has plenty left in the tank.

LeBron is going strong in Year 19, but the Los Angeles Lakers have had a terrible season up to this point and the All-Star break served as a means for James to focus on himself rather than the Lakers’ drama.

Being back in Cleveland, LeBron James genuinely looked like he was having fun at the All-Star break for once and he gave everyone a key glance into what the future holds for him in this league by talking about his son, LeBron James Jr. a.k.a. “Bronny” James.

In an interview with The Athletic’s Jason Lloyd, LeBron James not only talked about how the “door is not closed” on a potential return to Cleveland, but he made his intentions to play with his son in the NBA very clear.

“My last year will be played with my son,” James told Lloyd. “Wherever Bronny is at, that’s where I’ll be. I would do whatever it takes to play with my son for one year. It’s not about the money at that point.”

Currently ranked #43 on ESPN’s Top-60 for the 2023 Recruiting Class, Bronny James is certainly on a lot of collegiate program’s radars and now, he could be on a lot of NBA team’s radars as well.

If Bronny and LeBron are a package deal, there will be a handful of NBA teams lining up to try and draft LeBron James’ son, even if LeBron himself would be 39 or 40 years old.

Between the Lakers’ struggles this season and now reports of Klutch Sports being unhappy with Lakers’ GM Rob Pelinka’s decision making this season, LeBron James could very much leave Los Angeles after the 2022-23 season, similar to what he did with the Cavaliers (twice) and Heat at the conclusion of his contracts there.

Playing with his son is the only thing that matters to LeBron James right now, which is why we should expect the 2022-23 season to be LeBron’s final year in Los Angeles.
