Would this trade make sense for the New Orleans Pelicans?
The New Orleans Pelicans have already shown a real willingness to make a splash move in order to improve the talent in their backcourt. The trade with the Portland Trail Blazers to land CJ McCollum was a strong start.
Making an upgrade at the point guard position from Devonte’ Graham would be a helpful next step for the Pelicans. A talent like Malcolm Brogdon would be an intriguing and could even potentially be a ‘buy-low’ trade target when considering his continued injury struggles.
Brogdon, who stands at 6-foot-5, would bring size to the backcourt alongside McCollum. He can handle guarding bigger perimeter players on switches given his frame and strength while also being a guard that shoulder the load of applying rim pressure as a lane penetrator.
When factoring in the Pelicans having Jonas Valanciunas to step out and shoot, there’s a lot to like about having two guards that can create an advantage off the dribble.
