It’s a new era for the Indiana Pacers. Domantas Sabonis and Caris LeVert both were moved at the NBA trade deadline and the backcourt of the future now consists of Tyrese Haliburton and Chris Duarte.

With Haliburton in the fold, the Pacers will be expected to move Malcolm Brogdon in the offseason. Indiana is in a much different position now than they were before the 2021-22 season when they got a two-year, $45 million contract extension done with him.

It has been a struggle for Brogdon to stay available and even now he’s currently recovering from an Achilles injury. He’s already set to appear in 60 games or less in each of the last three seasons. Injuries ended up being a key reason for the demise of the previous rendition of the Pacers.

When Brogdon has been available to play, he’s been effective. He is averaging 18.5 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 5.9 assists in 28 appearances this season, but given the circumstances the team faces, he could be most valuable being included in an offseason trade.

There was likely a strong chance that Brogdon would have been moved ahead of the NBA trade deadline but he was ineligible to be moved after signing his contract extension in the offseason.
