Derrick Favors – Oklahoma City Thunder
Should the Nuggets decide to turn their attention to the frontcourt in the buyout market, Derrick Favors is definitely someone that would be their ideal fit as a back-up for Nikola Jokic.
Denver has kept former All-Star DeMarcus Cousins on their roster with multiple 10-day contracts, but they may not look to keep him heading into the playoffs.
Outside of Cousins right now, the only other frontcourt options the Nuggets have are Jeff Green, JaMychal Green and Zeke Nnaji. Adding a “bruiser-like” big man like Derrick Favors gives the Nuggets another rim-protector, as well as someone who can aid in rebounding for a team that ranks bottom-ten in the league in said category.
Now in his 12th NBA season, Derrick Favors currently finds himself on the Oklahoma City Thunder, a young team that really does not have much use for Favors anymore.

The Thunder have shown a willingness to move on from the veteran big man leading up to the trade deadline and after not getting a deal done involving him, they could opt to buy him out of his contract.
Derrick Favors does have a $10.2 million player option for next season, which is a key reason why Oklahoma City may wait to trade him in the offseason, but they could just decide to dump him right now and absorb the remainder of his contract as dead cap space.
