Goran Dragic – San Antonio Spurs

Building off the idea of adding another backcourt piece in the buyout market, Goran Dragic is a very intriguing name that various playoff teams around the league are showing interest in.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski recently listed the Lakers, Warriors, Clippers, Bulls, Nets and Bucks as potential landing spots for the veteran guard in the buyout market this season and it would not be surprising to see the Boston Celtics get involved with him as well.

Goran Dragic was traded before the season, along with Precious Achiuwa, to the Toronto Raptors as part of the sign-and-trade deal for the Heat to acquire Kyle Lowry.

Upon arrival to Toronto, many quickly learned that Goran Dragic was not going to be a member of the Raptors for long, which is why he ultimately only played in 5 games for them.

Now in his 14th NBA season, Goran Dragic has been the epitome of a consistent scoring weapon in the backcourt, as well as being an adaptive and reliable facilitator. For his career, Dragic has posted a very respectable 2.12 assist-to-turnover ratio and he has shot 36.4% from long-range.

Given Boston’s need for another playmaker, as well as an extra scoring weapon in the backcourt, Goran Dragic could be the perfect “boost” for them to add to their bench. Not to mention, he brings insider information from his time with the Raptors and Heat, two teams the Celtics may need to get past in the playoffs this season.
