Would this trade make sense for the Houston Rockets?

For the Houston Rockets, this deal is all about the two young players they would be bringing back. As the Rockets attempt to kickstart their rebuild, adding as much young talent as possible is obviously one of their top priorities.

Cameron Thomas has gotten limited opportunities with the Brooklyn Nets this season, but he has been solid in his chances. He’s appeared in 40 games and has averaged 7.5 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 1.0 assists in 17.4 minutes per game in his rookie campaign.

Meanwhile, Day’Ron Sharpe has also found a ton of success in the G-League and has received some opportunity with the Nets this season. In 23 appearances, he’s averaged 6.3 points and 4.9 rebounds while shooting 59.3% from the floor.

Getting two young players of this quality would be huge for the Rockets, especially considering the recent emerging issues between Christian Wood and the team. Sharpe would replace Wood, and Thomas has the chance to be an elite NBA-level scorer if given the right opportunity.

Wood has a ton of value, and if the recent problems involving him and Kevin Porter Jr. continue, he’ll likely be on the move at some point this year. Getting Thomas and Sharpe in return would be great for a young team like the Houston Rockets.
