Houston Rockets Receive: G Cameron Thomas, F Day’ron Sharpe, F Bruce Brown, F James Johnson, G Jevon Carter, 2028 Second-Round Pick

This is pretty much the only way the Brooklyn Nets can make a trade for Christian Wood work (without giving up Joe Harris). They don’t have a bunch of big salaries, so they would have to package a bunch of smaller guys together to make Wood’s salary.

Wood makes around $13.6 million dollars, and the Nets would have to match that almost exactly to avoid hitting the hard cap. By combining the aforementioned five salaries, they would be able to make the deal work.

So far this season, Wood has averaged 17.7 points, 10.3 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game while shooting 48.5 percent from the field and 37.0 percent from three-point land. He’s helped the Houston Rockets bounce back from their terrible start to the season with his great play.

Meanwhile, the Nets would be sending two young pieces and three veterans to the Rockets. Houston likely would only be interested in Cameron Thomas and Day’Ron Sharpe, but they could flip the other three guys into other assets if they wanted to.

This trade would definitely be gutting Brooklyn’s depth a bit, but in turn, they would get an upgrade to their starting lineup and a big body to throw at other centers in the East.

Why would each team consider doing a trade like this one? Let’s take a look.
