De’Aaron Fox Becomes Face Of New York Knicks

Losing is something Knicks’ fans have been accustomed to over the last several years, but after claiming the 4-seed in the East last season and bringing in both Kemba Walker and Evan Fournier in the offseason, there was a lot of hype surrounding the New York Knicks entering the season.

52 games in though, the Knicks are just 24-28 and currently sitting a full game back from the Atlanta Hawks for the 10-seed in the Eastern Conference.

New York’s playoff hopes this season are sleeping away quickly and with the Knicks being one of the worst offensive teams in the league, they desperately need to go out and make a big move in the coming week ahead of the trade deadline if they are to remain relevant.

R.J. Barrett has continued to turn himself into a high-level young talent in this league on the wing, but Julius Randle has been having an extremely inconsistent season and the Knicks have virtually no scoring talent in their backcourt.

Derrick Rose has been out since mid-December due to ankle surgery, Kemba Walker is no longer an All-Star-level point guard and Immanuel Quickley is extremely inconsistent offensively, which is why the Knicks could really use someone like De’Aaron Fox.

There have been reports stating that De’Aaron Fox and Tyrese Haliburton are “off-limits” in trade talks, but let’s be honest for a second here. The Kings have not made the playoffs since 2006… everyone on their roster is available for the right price, including Fox.

Finding consistent point guard play has been extremely difficult for the Knicks through the years, as they have not had a franchise point guard for what feels like decades now! De’Aaron Fox is only 24-years-old, pairing him with Barrett long-term, and he proved to be a borderline All-Star talent a season ago with the Kings.

Now in his fifth NBA season, De’Aaron Fox has averaged 18.6 points, 6.2 assists, 1.4 steals and has shot 45.8% from the floor, making him the perfect, explosive guard in a Tom Thibodeau coached system.

If the Knicks are actually going to do something with this season, they are going to have to turn things on post-All-Star break. Right now, they are severely lacking talent on their roster, starting in their backcourt.

It would likely take a lot in terms of young talents and draft picks to convince the Kings to trade De’Aaron Fox, but he is the perfect trade target for the Knicks and New York would be a perfect spot for Fox to continue growing as a young, potential All-Star talent.
