Does this trade make sense for the Washington Wizards?
If the Washington Wizards do actually want to get rid of Spencer Dinwiddie ahead of the trade deadline, they need to make sure they are adding players that can help them win games right now.
It is possible that they could include Dinwiddie in a three-team deal involving the Knicks, as Kemba Walker and/or Alec Burks could be on the move somewhere else for another talented player, but this is not necessarily a bad trade off for Washington.
They would replace Dinwiddie with Walker, a former All-Star point guard, they would add scoring depth on the wing with Burks and Washington would get a second-round pick. The only problem with the draft pick though is that it is heavily protected and will likely go back to Charlotte this season.
This is definitely not a terrible trade for Washington, as they gain two assets for the price of one to try and win games this season, but they really need another star to pair with Bradley Beal moving forward.

Packaging Spencer Dinwiddie with someone like Rui Hachimura and a draft pick to go after Pacers’ All-Star Domantas Sabonis is a much better scenario for the Wizards, however, it is hard to imagine that they will be able to add another high-level talent this season.
