Miami Heat Receive: F Marcus Morris Sr.
LA Clippers Receive: G/F Duncan Robinson, MIA 2025 1st Round Pick (Top-18 Protected)

The only way the Miami Heat can make a trade for Marucs Morris Sr. work this season is by trading Duncan Robinson, a move that could make some Heat fans a little on edge. Miami signed Duncan Robinson as an undrafted free agent ahead of the 2018-19 season and he has quickly become one of the league’s best sharpshooters.

Since 2019-20, Robinson ranks second in the league in made three-pointers (668) and for his career, the 27-year-old wing has shot 40.8% from beyond-the-arc.

The LA Clippers made a move to acquire Luke Kennard last season and going after another three-point shooting threat in Duncan Robinson could make a lot of sense for them.

Pairing Robinson with Kennard on the perimeter in Los Angeles instantly gives the Clippers two of the better catch-and-shoot threats in the entire league and would help make them a championship contender once again when George and Leonard return to the floor next season.

LATEST NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Miami Heat Open To Moving Duncan Robinson At Trade Deadline?

Given that the Miami Heat are over the salary cap and right at the tax line, the only way they can make a trade for Marcus Morris Sr. and his $15.6M contract this season is by sending out an equal contract. Well, Duncan Robinson is making $15.6M this season, making this deal a possible match made in heaven for both sides.

While Robinson has played well for the Miami Heat, he has also struggled due to the fact that he is nothing more than a catch-and-shoot talent. Over 84% of his total shot attempts this season have come from beyond-the-arc and his scoring has been very inconsistent this season.

Duncan Robinson has scored at least 20 points in multiple games this season, but he has also had a lot of games in which he fails to score more than 6 points. Having someone like Robinson who can get hot and make 6+ threes in a game is great, however, the Heat already have plenty of three-point shooting depth with Gabe Vincent and Max Strus.

LATEST NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Miami Heat Open To Moving Duncan Robinson At Trade Deadline?

The Miami Heat do not need to make any moves, but if they are to make a move ahead of the trade deadline, they need to be targeting some more depth at the forward positions. P.J. Tucker is their only reliable forward defender right now with Markieff Morris being out since November, hence why Marcus Morris Sr. could fit right now.

Morris has always been known to be a hard-nosed, physical player on the wing and given his 6’8” frame, he has no problem playing the power-forward position in some rotations. Along with shooting 35.6% from deep this season, Marcus Morris would be a key addition to the Miami Heat as they look to contend for a title.
