Eric Gordon – Houston Rockets
Now in his 14th season in the NBA, Eric Gordon has consistently been a very reliable scorer on the wing and has been a part of numerous title contending teams with the Houston Rockets over the years.
Through 41 games this season, Eric Gordon has once again proven to be a reliable offensive weapon, as he is averaging 14.6 points, 3.2 assists and ranks second in the league in three-point shooting percentage at 44.6% from deep.
The Rockets do have a level of interest in moving Gordon at the trade deadline this season, but they are also alright with the idea of keeping him as a key contributor to this young core. According to ESPN’s Tim MacMahon, the Rockets are not “eager” to dump Eric Gordon at the trade deadline and he believes that the Rockets will not trade the veteran wing unless they feel like they are getting a fair amount of value in return.
Given his contributions this season, Eric Gordon has certainly gained a lot more respect around the league, hence why Houston would be unwilling to trade him for a handful of second-round picks and a “salary-dump” type of player.
LATEST NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Buddy Hield Named Realistic Trade Target For The Dallas Mavericks
Dallas does not have a lot to offer up, but Josh Green is a young wing that could be of interest to the Rockets and they do have some future first-round picks they could send out. A trade package centered around Dwight Powell, Josh Green and a draft pick does match up financially for Dallas, but the question that remains is whether or not this is enough value for the Rockets to trade their veteran.
Going after a player like Eric Gordon is the next best thing the Mavericks can do for themselves, especially since they lose a lot of scoring production on the wing from Hardaway Jr. being out.
Eric Gordon brings playoff experience, he is contributing at a high-level this season and he is a reliable two-way player on the wing, which is why the Mavericks would be smart to sacrifice some future assets for him right now.
