Would this trade make sense for the Philadelphia 76ers?
Ben Simmons is quite literally contributing nothing this season, and Tobias Harris isn’t living up to his contract. For the Philadelphia 76ers, this trade would see them put three, starting-quality players around Joel Embiid, with one of those three being an All-Star-caliber talent.
De’Aaron Fox is obviously the prize in this trade package, and although reports say that the 76ers don’t want him as the focal point of a deal, this trade might be too good to pass up on. Fox is an All-Star-level player to pair with Embiid.
Past that, though, both Buddy Hield and Harrison Barnes are elite three-point shooters that would greatly improve Philadelphia’s offense. As for the whole at power forward left by Tobias Harris, Barnes would immediately replace Harris, as he’s a better defender and provides more efficient scoring on offense.
This trade would give the 76ers the best depth in the NBA by far. Their starting lineup could look like Fox, Seth Curry, Danny Green, Barnes, and Embiid, with Hield, Matisse Thybulle, and others coming off the bench.

And obviously, this deal would also allow the 76ers to get off of both Simmons’ and Harris’ massive contracts. Overall, this would be a great deal for the 76ers. It would allow them to plan for the future (because of Fox) and also compete right now (because of Hield and Barnes).
