Would this trade make sense for the Detroit Pistons?
The future of the Detroit Pistons involves Cade Cunningham and whoever else the team can manage to add through the NBA Draft as the rebuild progresses.
With or without Jerami Grant in the picture, the Pistons are doing a fine enough job of positioning themselves for the No. 1 pick in the 2022 NBA Draft. No team has a worse record than them. That doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be looking to add more assets, though.
Given that Jerami Grant is going to be 28-years-old in mid-March, moving him in a deal makes a lot of sense. However, it’s worth questioning, would it be better to wait for the offseason to maximize his value? It’s debatable since he would then be an expiring contract.
A deal now that involves Patrick Williams should be intriguing for the Pistons. He is just 20-years-old and brings a lot of versatility to the floor.

Playing alongside Cunningham, Williams would make for a big lineup that can handle a lot of switching with the point of attack defender and potential big defender both being athletic wings.
