Kevin Love – Cleveland Cavaliers

Now I know what you are thinking, but just hear this out.

Kevin Love’s contract is one of the worst in the NBA, as he is owed $31.2M this season and then $28.9M next season with no opt out clause, but he has actually played quite well recently.

Love has scored at least 20 points in five straight games now for the Cavs and since the start of December, he is averaging 18.1 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.3 assists and is shooting 48.9% from the floor, 49.2% from three-point range.

In this time, over 70% of Love’s total shots have come from three-point range and he has been one of the best bench scorers in the entire league.

With all of the injuries the Cavaliers have had to deal with and players being in and out of health protocols, Kevin Love has had to step up numerous times this season and he surprisingly ranks 7th in the league in total bench points scored this season.

Making $31.2M this season and then $28.9M next season, it seems crazy to think the Jazz would want to tie themselves down to this kind of contract, but Love has been making an impact in Cleveland at 33-years-old and is a player that Danny Ainge had a lot of interest in trading for and/or signing him in free agency when he was an executive with the Boston Celtics.

Utah has always been one of the best three-point shooting teams over the years and as his role in the league has changed over the years, Kevin Love has become a better three-point shooter. He is averaging a career-best 2.7 made threes per game this season and is also shooting a career-best 43.3% from long-range.

This move would force the Jazz to trade both Bojan Bogdanovic and Joe Ingles for another aging veteran, so maybe this is something Utah will not be interested in, but there is no denying that Kevin Love has proven that he can still be an effective player in this league.

He has never really been known to make an impact defensively, but Kevin Love has actually played well on the defensive-end of the floor, as his defensive rating on the season is 103, tied for 8th in the league with Stephen Curry and Paul George.

Given his spot-up shooting abilities and being a really strong rebounder at the power-forward position, Kevin Love could actually prove to be a weapon for the Utah Jazz.
