Does this trade make sense for the Philadelphia 76ers?
Trading Ben Simmons is something the Philadelphia 76ers want to do, something they have been trying to do and something they will do this season, but not to the Knicks. This trade package does absolutely nothing for the 76ers’ chances of winning a title now or over the next few years.
With how good the Eastern Conference is and teams like the Bucks, Heat, Nets and maybe the Bulls being better than them, the 76ers’ championship window is already very small. Their margin for error is minimal and as a result, they need to add a really talented player in exchange for Simmons.
Evan Fournier is a good shooter, but the Sixers have Seth Curry, Furkan Korkmaz, Shake Milton and others as three-point shooting threats. Obi Toppin is a young and talented player, but where does he really fit in with a frontcourt of Tobias Harris, Joel Embiid and Andre Drummond?
The idea of adding Kemba Walker makes sense in terms of adding another facilitator and ball-handler in their backcourt, but he is not the All-Star he used to be.

There is really nothing about this trade that makes sense for the Philadelphia 76ers.
