Memphis Grizzlies Receive: F Jerami Grant, G Cory Joseph
Detroit Pistons Receive: F Kyle Anderson, G De’Anthony Melton, G/F Jarrett Culver, UTA 2022 1st Round Pick (Top-6 Protected, via MEM)
While he is out right now with a UCL injury to his right thumb, Jerami Grant’s value on the trade market still remains high. Since signing with the Detroit Pistons in 2020, Grant has been their leading scorer and has made a name for himself by being one of the best two-way forwards in the NBA.
The Pistons are not going to give him up easily, which is why if Memphis wants him, they are going to have to be willing to part ways with some key assets.
Dillon Brooks or Desmond Bane could certainly be two players that Detroit would want in return for Grant, but in this proposal, the Grizzlies would be sending Kyle Anderson, De’Anthony Melton, Jarrett Culver and a first-round pick in 2022 to the Pistons.
Kyle Anderson is in his eight NBA season and in the final year of his contract, but he is definitely a unique talent. The 6’9” combo-forward can be a primary ball-handler, he can pass, score, defend many positions and shoot from long-range, making him a key “glue” guy in this league.

Maybe Detroit would not keep him past this season, but Anderson would certainly be a viable replacement in the Pistons’ rotations for Grant. As for De’Anthony Melton and Jarrett Culver, they are both young talents that the Pistons could look to utilize as part of their young core.
Culver was drafted 6th overall in 2019, but his career has been off to a very shaky start. There is still plenty of time for Jarrett Culver to be the impactful two-way player he was expected to be, but he has not been put in the right situations to succeed early on in his career.
Standing 6’6” with a near 6’10” wingspan, the young wing definitely still has potential to make something of himself in the NBA. Detroit has time to develop young talents and being in the final year of his rookie deal, they would not be tied down to having to pay him long-term.

De’Anthony Melton is now in his fourth NBA season and has been making a name for himself in Memphis this season. Through 30 games, the 23-year-old guard is averaging 10.5 points, 4.2 rebounds, 2.7 assists and is shooting 41.5% from the floor.

Being able to play with or without the ball in his hands, Melton is definitely someone who could fit in long-term next to Cade Cunningham as a combo-guard.
The Grizzlies definitely have some intriguing assets to offer up for Jerami Grant, but do they have enough to pursue Grant?
