Does this trade make sense for the Detroit Pistons?
If the Detroit Pistons were to trade Jerami Grant at the NBA trade deadline this season, they would need to be receiving a ton of “irresistible” value and they simply do not get that in this trade with Memphis.
Maybe Jarrett Culver could turn into something special with their young group and maybe Kyle Anderson hangs around longer than this season, but what does Detroit really have to gain from this trade?
De’Anthony Melton is a solid combo-guard to add next to Cade Cunningham, but Kyle Anderson is in the final year of his contract and the first-round pick they get in 2022 would most likely fall between 25-30 since the Jazz currently have the third-best record in the NBA.
The only way a trade involving Jerami Grant going to the Grizzlies works for the Pistons is if they are getting either Dillon Brooks or Desmond Bane in return. Both guys are high-level wings that could provide immediate and future value to the Pistons organization.

However, Memphis is not going to be willing to talk trades with either player since they are key pieces next to Ja Morant and Jaren Jackson Jr.
It is reasonable to believe that the Memphis Grizzlies could inquire about Jerami Grant, but the Pistons would be smart to just keep him and see if they can get a ton of value for him in the offseason.
