Once seen as a title contending threat in the Western Conference, the Houston Rockets are nothing more than a contender for the No. 1 overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft now! After trading James Harden last season, the Rockets entered what looked to be a long and grueling rebuild process, but they seem to be way ahead of schedule.
They are only 10-23 this season and have one of the worst records in the league, but there is a lot to like about this group Houston is assembling right now. Jalen Green, Christian Wood, Kevin Porter Jr. and Jae’Sean Tate have all started to play some great basketball with one another and this is just the start of the Rockets’ potential.
We should not expect much success the rest of this season or even next season from the Houston Rockets, but in a handful of years, this team could wind up being a real playoff threat given their athleticism and youth.

Earlier this month, ESPN’s Tim MacMahon was on ‘The Lowe Post’ podcast with ESPN’s Zach Lowe and talked about how Christian Wood could be drawing a lot of trade interest.
“The sense that I get is by no means are the Houston Rockets looking to move him,” MacMahon stated. “Certainly there’s potential for him to be in his prime when the young guys grow up, and maybe the Rockets are ready to be competitive again. But they’re willing to listen and I think that you know, aside from Jalen Green, the Rockets should be willing to listen to every single guy on the roster.”
If he is indeed available in trade talks, Wood could draw a significant amount of interest ahead of the trade deadline from various teams across the league, including the New Orleans Pelicans.
