Does this trade make sense for the Houston Rockets?
Trading Christian Wood is a questionable move to begin with and for this return, the Houston Rockets management would be absolutely insane! Kira Lewis Jr. and Jaxson Hayes are both promising looking young players that have yet to scratch the surface of their potential, but they are both liabilities right now.
Lewis is currently out for the season with a torn ACL and Hayes has barely played this season. While he could be a young back-up option in their backcourt, the Rockets really have no need for Kira Lewis Jr. and they would have no idea what to expect of him coming off said knee injury.
As for Tomas Satoransky, the Rockets really have nothing to gain from trading for him other than getting out of D.J. Augustin’s contract. If they really want to just dump Augustin, they should waive him instead of acquiring another veteran contract.
Basically, the Rockets would be giving up their best talent for two young question marks, a veteran player who serves no purpose and a future draft pick that should not have too much value since it would likely be an end of the first-round pick from Los Angeles.

Nothing about this trade makes sense for the Houston Rockets and they would be foolish to even consider a trade with the New Orleans Pelicans unless they can get a grand return.
Josh Hart and Nickeil Alexander-Walker are two players that Houston would be much more interested in than Jaxson Hayes and Kira Lewis Jr. so unless either of them are to be included in a trade package from New Orleans, it would be a quick “no” from Houston in regards to trading Christian Wood.
