How This Trade Impacts Boston Celtics
The Boston Celtics have an explosive scoring duo in Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown that buoys the team. However, their second unit is in desperate need of an upgrade offensively.
When Dennis Schroder is starting games, the second unit is lacking that much more in a scoring punch. Josh Richardson is the only Celtics player coming off the bench that is averaging double-figures and Terrence Ross would help turn that around.
Boston’s bench currently ranks 27th in bench scoring and 23rd in shooting percentage. Adding the explosive Ross to the mix would help turn that around instantly. He has struggled himself, this season, but being acquired by a team looking to make a postseason run could reinvigorate him and get his performance back on track.
For the Celtics, this trade would be a no-brainer. They need more players that can help them win now, which Nesmith and Hernangomez aren’t doing. Parting ways with them, two players on the fringe or out of the rotation, for someone such as Ross would be a win for the team.

Parting ways with another draft pick may be something ownership won’t be thrilled with, but making the postseason would take the sting away. Terrence Ross would help the Celtics on their quest to cement their status as a playoff team.
