Terrence Ross – Orlando Magic

Not many people have paid attention to the Orlando Magic this season and rightfully so. Orlando is just 6-25 and are building for the future with some talented young players.

Cole Anthony, Franz Wagner, Wendell Carter Jr., Jalen Suggs, Mo Bamba and others makeup a promising looking young group in Orlando, but Terrence Ross does not seem to fit in anymore. The 30-year-old wing is in his sixth season with the Magic, but is a veteran that they will look to move on from not only to free up cap space, but gain extra future assets as well.

Since the start of the 2018-19 season, Terrence Ross has turned himself into one of the better bench scorers in the league and has averaged 14.6 points, 3.3 rebounds and has shot 41.4% from the floor.

Last season, Ross only played in 46 games due to injuries, but he still managed to score 666 points off-the-bench, the 10th most out of all players in the NBA. The best part about going out and trading for Terrence Ross is the fact that his contract is extremely favorable.

Making just $12.5M this season and then $11.5M next season, Terrence Ross is an impactful player that could be the target of multiple teams with large trade exceptions. The Thunder, Pelicans and Celtics could acquire Ross using their trade exception, but many other teams like the Mavericks, Timberwolves, Bulls and Nuggets have the ability to free up cap space to trade for the veteran.

Terrence Ross’ name popped up a little bit in trade talks near the deadline last season, but his injury concerns pushed some teams away, leading to the Magic trading Vucevic, Fournier and Gordon instead.

Being healthy and continuing to make an impact off-the-bench this season, Terrence Ross is expected to once again see a solid amount of interest in trade talks.

He is not a franchise-altering talent, but being a double-digit scorer off-the-bench, he can definitely be an impactful role player for any playoff team in this league.

He can shoot, drive to the basket and provide stability for a team’s second-unit, which is why Terrence Ross will likely be dealt in the coming weeks.
