Thaddeus Young – San Antonio Spurs

Since they acquired him in the sign-and-trade deal that sent DeMar DeRozan to the Chicago Bulls, the San Antonio Spurs have been fielding interest on Thaddeus Young from around the league.

The now 15-year veteran forward proved to be a real asset in Chicago last season and while his minutes have been limited in San Antonio, he has continued to produce when his number has been called.

Last season in Chicago, Thaddeus Young averaged 12.1 points, 6.2 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 1.1 steals and shot 55.9% from the floor in about 24.3 minutes per game.

With a lot of years of experience under his belt and in the final year of his contract, Thaddeus Young is a frontcourt piece that could be of interest to plenty of playoff threats in this league.

The Celtics, Timberwolves and Mavericks are three teams who could be interested in the veteran big man, as well as the Phoenix Suns.

Fresh off their run to the NBA Finals last season, the Suns have been looking for ways to add some more talent to their frontcourt and after declining the option on Jalen Smith’s contract for next season, it has been rumored that the team is looking to move Smith for a solidified veteran.

Shams Charania reported back in August that Phoenix had interest in Thaddeus Young and now this past week, Bleacher Report’s Jake Fischer is reporting that Phoenix has “strong interest” in Young.

Packaging Jalen Smith, Dario Saric and a draft pick for Thaddeus Young is the best avenue to the Phoenix Suns acquiring the veteran from the Spurs, but it is unknown what exactly San Antonio is wanting for him.
