One of the biggest stories of the 2021-22 NBA season has been the sudden rise and success of the Chicago Bulls. Ever since their last title in 1998, the Bulls have been rebuilding and while they had some great years with Derrick Rose and Jimmy Butler, they only reached the Eastern Conference Finals once and were never able to get “over the hump” in the playoffs.

Currently 17-10, the Bulls have the third-best record in the Eastern Conference and have an All-Star trio that does not get enough credit and attention across the league. Zach LaVine continues to be the juggernaut scorer for the team, averaging 26.0 points per game, Nikola Vucevic continues to be a double-double machine for them in the frontcourt and new addition DeMar DeRozan has really pulled things together for them.

Along with Lonzo Ball and Alex Caruso joining the Bulls this season, this team has looked like a championship contender and they have continued to find success on the court even though they have had numerous players go in and out of health and safety protocols.

The Bulls are real championship contenders in the Eastern Conference this season, but they really do need to find ways to add more depth ahead of the trade deadline. Chicago ranks second-to-last in the NBA in bench points and with Patrick Williams out indefinitely, they are really thin on the wing.

LATEST NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: This Bulls-Kings Trade Is Focused On Marvin Bagley III To Chicago

Derrick Jones Jr. has stepped up in multiple different ways for this team, so they may not want to move him, but Coby White’s future remains a mystery in Chicago. With the arrivals of Caruso, Ball and Dosunmu, the third-year combo-guard’s minutes have declined and with his value still being high, now would be the time for the Bulls to potentially trade him

There would definitely be teams interested around the league in White should he become available, but someone the Bulls could look to leverage him for is veteran Robert Covington.

The Portland Trail Blazers are looking to add some more talent to their roster this season in hopes of turning things around and while Covington has been a big part of their core over the years, he is in the final year of his contract and expendable due to Larry Nance Jr. now being in the starting rotation.

LATEST NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: This Bulls-Kings Trade Is Focused On Marvin Bagley III To Chicago

While he is only averaging 6.4 points, 4.7 rebounds and shooting just 33.3% from three-point range this season, the 31-year-old veteran is a versatile player that has always been known to be a great defender either on the perimeter or in the low-post. Being able to play multiple different positions and fitting in defensively with the Bulls, Covington could wind up being a sneaky good trade target for Chicago this season.

So could we see the Bulls move their young guard and another role player for Robert Covington and another “3-and-D” veteran? Let’s take a look at what this trade could look like.
