Does this trade make sense for the Los Angeles Lakers?

The Los Angeles Lakers are going to be looking to make a move ahead of the trade deadline this season to add some more two-way talent on the wing and this is a move that they need to make. Defensively, this team has holes to fix and Justin could easily help them.

He is not the difference in them winning a championship, but Holiday would easily come in and see at least 20 minutes per game off-the-bench, possibly even in their starting rotation! Making just $6M this season and then $6.3M next season, Holiday is affordable and consistent, which is more than can be said about other veterans on this Lakers’ roster in terms of consistency.

In order to make a trade this season, the Lakers are going to have to leverage either Talen Horton-Tucker or Kendrick Nunn given their cap situation. They really like the upside Horton-Tucker brings to the table which is why Nunn would be the guy they would look to offer up to Indiana for Justin Holiday.

Kendrick Nunn certainly could carve out a role in Los Angeles after he returns from his knee injury and he could be another secondary scorer they depend on, but he is not the best on-ball defender and would clog up this team’s backcourt.

They need more talent on the wing and they need some more three-point shooting threats. Since joining the Indiana Pacers, Holiday has shot 38.6% from three-point range and he is currently shooting 35.7% from deep this season.

Between being able to make multiple threes every game to being reliable defensively, he is the type of player the Lakers need to be looking to add.
