Does this trade make sense for the Minnesota Timberwolves?

Believe it or not, the Minnesota Timberwolves have the 9th best record in the Western Conference right now and should find themselves battling for a playoff spot late in the season. Whether or not they avoid the play-in tournament is a whole other question that is yet to be answered, but the Timberwolves do need to add more talent to their team.

Their “Big 3” of D’Angelo Russell, Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns can only carry this team so far, which is why adding talent to their second-unit and bench is super important leading up to the trade deadline.

Josh Okogie has been a key factor defensively for Minnesota and while they would miss his production on that end of the court, Derrick Favors and Kenrich Williams are two key role players that this team could add to get better.

We mentioned earlier how Favors is a strong rebounder and interior defender, plus he would give the Timberwolves that second key big man that they are looking to add next to Towns. As for Williams, he is coming off a season in which he averaged 8.0 points, 4.1 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 0.8 steals and shot 44.4% from three-point range.

While his three-point percentage has dropped to 37% this season, he is still proving to be a “Swiss Army knife” type of player for the Thunder and could do so in Minnesota for the Timberwolves.

Minnesota needs to add more talent to their roster if they are to end their playoff drought and by leveraging two players that do not hold much value to them long-term, they can add two players in the short-term to help this team reach their goals.
