Does this trade make sense for the Orlando Magic?
Trading Mo Bamba is not something we should expect to see the Orlando Magic do, especially given how well he has played, but you could make an argument that they should take this trade if it is presented to them.
Maybe Gabriel Deck is a player that would not work out for them, but he is another wing they can experiment with and Josh Okogie has turned himself into a very valuable defender on the wing. Okogie is in the final year of his contract and the Magic would have to re-sign him, but they could do so for much less than that of Bamba and get a lot out of Josh Okogie over the next few seasons on the wing.
As for the draft pick they get back from the Oklahoma City Thunder, this pick comes by way of the Miami Heat and is lottery-protected through 2025, but this pick should convey over to the Magic in 2023, giving them three first-round picks in that draft.
For a team that is rebuilding, this would be the best case scenario for them!

Overall though, it makes more sense for the Orlando Magic to just keep Bamba and invest in him for the future. Their frontcourt duo of Carter Jr. and Bamba has played really well together and the young center is only going to continue to improve as an all-around threat.
When Jonathan Isaac returns, it will be interesting to see whose minutes get cut down, but if Mo Bamba continues to play how he has been, it will be hard to take him off the court.
