Does this trade make sense for the Indiana Pacers?
The Indiana Pacers are heading towards a rebuild and this is something that seemed inevitable dating back to a couple of years ago when they were consistently losing in the first-round of the playoffs. This franchise has not gone anywhere since they got rid of Paul George and now, they are going to have to scramble for answers over the next few seasons.
Maybe they hold onto Sabonis and LeVert, but T.J. Warren will likely be gone after his contract expires this season and Myles Turner will almost definitely get traded while his value is at an all-time high.
Upgrading their perimeter shooting is something Indiana needs to do if they are to try and find success with their current roster, which is why Turner is expendable for a player like Joe Harris.
Since the start of the 2018-19 season, Joe Harris has averaged 13.9 points, 3.9 rebounds and has shot 49.4% from the floor, 45.8% from three-point range. He led the league in three-point shooting percentage during the 2018-19 season, as well as the 2020-21 season, and his 46.6% shooting percentage from deep this season is the highest in the league once again, even though Harris has only played in 14 games.

He is exactly the kind of player the Pacers need to add to their roster and while offense is the name of the game for Harris in regards to his three-point shooting percentages, Harris has been one of the best perimeter defenders on the Nets over the years.
This “3-and’D” playstyle would fit in very nicely next to both Malcolm Brogdon and DOmantas Sabonis on the wing, hence why this trade could be worthwhile for the Pacers. Maybe they would want a draft pick in addition to Joe Harris and Nic Claxton, but there is certainly enough value here for the Pacers to make this trade.
