Indiana Pacers Receive: G/F Joe Harris, C Nic Claxton

Obviously the first name that comes to mind in any trade scenarios involving the Brooklyn Nets is Kyrie Irving, but the Nets do not necessarily need to move Irving in order to bring in another high-level talent.

Joe Harris is making $17.3M this season and with roughly $55.8M in guaranteed money still left on his contract, he is a player the Nets could leverage this season in order to address a major “need” in their frontcourt.

While he is currently out after having surgery on his left ankle, Harris is expected to return no later than the beginning of February and the Pacers have been a team that has shown interest in the sharpshooter before.

Brooklyn would be losing a lot of perimeter scoring by moving Joe Harris and he is a player that they have loved over the years, but with the Nets frontcourt being a disaster, adding Myles Turner could just prove to be more valuable than having Harris as a perimeter shooter.

Not to mention, Myles Turner is a solid offensive player as well, the Pacers just do not utilize him much on that end of the floor. For his career, Turner has averaged 12.7 points and has shot 35.5% from three-point range, making him a weapon that James Harden could certainly utilize in pick-and-roll situations.

Brooklyn is one of the most balanced teams in the league this season, ranking 10th in offensive rating and 6th in defensive rating, and they are doing so without Kyrie Irving on the floor. There are some rumors that Irving could be getting ready to return to the Nets’ rotations for away games only and if that is the case, then adding Myles Turner could make this team unstoppable.

Trading Turner and Craig for Harris and Claxton could be a risk for the Pacers, especially since Joe Harris is injured right now, but they are one of the worst three-point shooting teams and if they are rebuilding, then they will need some young talents that they can invest in.

Joe Harris is 30-years-old, but he is one of the best three-point shooters in the league and can give this offense a much needed boost on the perimeter over the next several years. As for Nic Claxton, he is 22-years-old and a young big man Brooklyn has been open to dealing.

Obviously replacing Turner with Claxton is a downgrade for Indiana, but moving Myles Turner to improve their three-point shooting numbers with Joe Harris is a move that could make sense.
