Does this trade make sense for the Brooklyn Nets?

Myles Turner would be a huge upgrade in the frontcourt for the Nets and make them even more dangerous than they already are, but giving up Joe Harris could be more costly than imagined. Harris is one of the premier three-point shooters in the league and he contributes more to this team than his stats say, which is why this move could potentially hurt the Nets offensively.

At just 25-years-old and continuing to improve his game, Myles Turner would immediately make the Nets a better defensive team and he would be a threat in pick-and-roll sets not only because of his ability to shoot for the perimeter, but because James Harden is one of the best passers in the league.

Harden would be able to find Turner wherever he is on the floor and could wind up being on the receiving end of several lobs to the rim every single game.

Joe Harris has meant a lot to this Brooklyn Nets franchise over the years and is a player they don’t necessarily want to get rid of, but Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report recently reported that Brooklyn has expressed a “surprising willingness” to discuss sharpshooter Joe Harris in trade talks.

Fischer also mentioned Nicolas Claxton as being a player the Nets could look to move on from, especially since they were interested in possibly moving him near the 2021 NBA Draft.

Bringing in Myles Turner obviously works wonders for the Nets frontcourt and their approach defensively, but the acquisition of Torrey Craig is highly undervalued in this deal.

Craig is in his 5th NBA season and on his fourth team in the last three seasons, but the 30-year-old wing has consistently been a solid “3-and-D” type player off-the-bench.

He has played with playoff contending teams through the years and did shoot 36.8% from three-point range last season, so Craig is definitely a talented player that the Nets could utilize not only for his defensive awareness, but his shooting abilities as well in lieu of Harris being gone.

The Nets could utilize their $6.2M TPE from trading DeAndre Jordan to the Pistons this year to absorb Torrey Craig’s contract and Myles Turner’s contract would be cancelled out by that of Joe Harris’, making this trade fairly easy from the Nets’ point of view, that is assuming they are alright with giving up Joe Harris.
