Golden State Warriors Receive: C Myles Turner, IND 2023 1st Round Pick (Swap, More Favorable to GSW), IND 2025 1st Round Pick (Lottery-Protected, Top-4 Protected in 2026, Unprotected in 2027)
Indiana Pacers Receive: C James Wiseman, F Jonathan Kuminga, G Moses Moody

In order for the Golden State Warriors to make a trade for another big contract, they will either have to part ways with Andrew Wiggins, which management has made clear is not an option right now, or they will have to sacrifice their young core that they are building and developing.

James Wiseman (20), Moses Moody (19) and Jonathan Kuminga (19) are all guys that the Warriors drafted in the lottery over the last two drafts and they are high on all three guys.

While Wiseman is currently still trying to work his way back from a meniscus injury suffered near the end of the 2020-21 season, Moody and Kuminga have shown flashes of their potential on the court during their rookie years.

Combining all three players’ salaries adds up to about $18.1M for this season, giving Golden State enough funds to send out in order to absorb Myles Turner’s $17.5M salary for this year with no penalties.

As they head towards a rebuild, the Indiana Pacers are going to be wanting to get as many future assets as they can for the players currently on their roster and all three of these prospects offer a ton of potential and growth for the future success of the Pacers organization.

James Wiseman, Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody are three players the Warriors have shown hesitance in including in trade talks, but addressing the center position may be something they look to do ahead of the trade deadline.

In terms of adding a dynamic and versatile center, Myles Turner would be a great fit in Golden State not only because of how good he is defensively, but because he is a stretch big man who can knock down shots from the perimeter.

For his career, Turner has shot 35.6% from three-point range and in a system where guys are constantly running off of screens like they are in Golden State, the Warriors will have a field day getting open looks not only for guys like Curry, Thompson and Poole, but Turner coming off of screens as well.

The Golden State Warriors currently rank 3rd in offensive rating and 1st in defensive rating, so this move to acquire Turner would be them going all-in to win another championship, but is it worth sacrificing their entire young core of the future?
