Most Valuable Player: Stephen Curry — Golden State Warriors

Odds: +150

Kevin Durant, Giannis Antetokounmpo and Nikola Jokic are three favorites in the running for this year’s MVP award, but what Steph Curry has done this season for the Warriors is remarkable.

He has been jockeying back and forth with Durant for the league-lead in scoring early on this season, but Curry has led the Warriors to having one of the best records in the league at 18-3 this season.

There is no better show in the NBA right now than Stephen Curry and what he has done is just remarkable. No player in the league can guard Curry right now and he is playing at such a higher level than his competition, which is why there is a really good chance that the 33-year-old point guard will win his 3rd MVP award, becoming the 9th player ever to win three MVP awards.

If Stephen Curry is able to achieve this feat, he would join Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (6), Michael Jordan (5), Bill Russell (5), LeBron James (4), Wilt Chamberlain (4), Larry Bird (3), Magic Johnson (3) and Moses Malone (3) as the only players in NBA history with at least 3 MVP awards and Curry would become just the third player in NBA history to win the league MVP honors at the age of 33 or older, joining Michael Jordan and Karl Malone, who did so twice.

On the year, Stephen Curry is currently averaging 27.8 points, 5.7 rebounds, 6.6 assists, 1.8 steals, and is shooting 45.2% from the floor, 41.2% from three-point range.

Curry has scored at least 30 points in six of his last eleven games and in that same span, he has made at least six three-points in seven of those games.

Stopping Curry seems like something that is impossible right now and when he gets going in one of his offensive grooves, there is nothing any defense in this league can do.

Steph Curry ranks 6th in the league in Player Efficiency Rating, tied for first in Win Shares, second in VORP (Value Over Replacement Player) and leads the league in three-pointers by a wide-margin.

Being on the best team in the league and only getting better when Klay Thompson returns, Steph Curry needs to be the early season MVP favorite right now and he could very well be taking home this award for the third time in his career when all is said and done.
