Sixth-Man Of The Year: Tyler Herro — Miami Heat
Odds: -140
If the season was to end today, Tyler Herro would be the undisputed Sixth-Man of the Year and quite honestly, he could be in the running for Most Improved Player as well! Herro has had a terrific start to the year and is silencing all of his doubters who said the Heat should trade him in the offseason.
Through 18 games, Herro is averaging 21.7 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.8 assists and is shooting 45.4% from the floor, 39.8% from three-point range. His 21.2 points per game off-the-bench this season leads the NBA.
Buddy Hield and Jordan Clarkson, two other players who are early season favorites for the award have posted win shares of 0.9 for the Heat and Jazz respectively, but Tyler Herro has posted a win share total of 1.2 on the season.
This may not seem like a big deal, but Tyler Herro’s role off-the-bench has really impacted this Heat team and has made them a legit contender once again in the Eastern Conference. With Bam Adebayo out indefinitely due to thumb surgery, it will be interesting to see if Herro gets inserted into the starting rotation or not, but he has been the best bench player this season.

Herro has 9 games with at least 20 points off-the-bench this season, which leads the league, and he is also the only player to have 2 games with at least 30 points-off-the-bench this season. Jimmy Butler, Bam Adebayo and Kyle Lowry are the three All-Stars on this Heat roster, but Tyler Herro may be their most important player because of what he can do off-the-bench.
