Would this trade make sense for the Orlando Magic?
The Orlando Magic originally drafted Mo Bamba after he played one year at the University of Texas. He entered the league with high hopes and potential but was unable to build up with the Magic.
Bamba played behind Nikola Vucevic for much of his tenure with the Magic while injuries have also been a key hampering factor, too. Now, he still isn’t the full-time starting center with Wendell Carter Jr. holding down that role, who was acquired in part of the Vucevic trade.
It is clear that both sides could use a fresh start and this is what would happen if Bamba is able to be traded. The Magic would gain an asset before having to worry about giving a second contract to him.
The Magic would be taking a chance on Thomas Bryant after he returns from an ACL tear. However, as previously mentioned, he’s on an expiring deal, so there’d be no long-term commitment.

The ultimate goal for the Magic should be to get a first-round pick for Bamba. If they can do so in a deal such as this one, it is a no-brainer for the franchise.
