3 Trade Targets For Miami Heat — Pass Or Pursue?

Jeremy Lamb – Indiana Pacers

The Heat have a financial problem on their hands in terms of making a trade, which is why going after Jeremy Lamb makes no sense for them unless he is bought out of his contract. Being in the final year of his deal and making $10.5M, we should not expect the Pacers or whatever team he gets traded to this season to release him.

There is no denying that Lamb could fit in as a perimeter shooting threat for the Heat, but there are just no scenarios the Heat can get away with acquiring him unless, like before, they are willing to trade P.J. Tucker.

Now in his 10th season in the league, Lamb is still looking to get his legs back under him after a torn ACL in 2020, but he has looked solid in his time with the Pacers. Since joining Indiana back in 2019, Lamb has averaged 10.9 points, 3.8 rebounds and has shot 37.5% from three-point range.

One of the biggest points of emphasis for this Miami offense is the three-point shot, as they are currently averaging 34.6% from three-point range as a team, ranking them 13th in the league in deep-ball shooting percentage.

LATEST NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Could John Wall Land With Miami Heat In Future?

Tyler Herro and P.J. Tucker are the only two players shooting above 40% from deep for this team so far this season, which is why the addition of a veteran like Lamb on the wing could be beneficial. Shooting 42.2% from deep on the year, Jeramy Lamb could be a “spark” off-the-bench in Miami, but again, the financial situation for this team does not add up.

The Heat just have no way of landing Lamb in a trade without tearing apart the core of their roster, which is why he is not someone they should pursue unless he is bought out of the final year of his contract.

Verdict: Pass
