Does this trade make sense for the Dallas Mavericks?

While Tomas Satoransky is not the best player the Dallas Mavericks could potentially trade for, he is another role player that could actually play well with this team. Dallas is not really a great offensive or defensive team right now and their biggest need is to just find more talent to surround Luka Doncic with. 

Seeing as Porzingis, Doncic and Hardaway Jr. are all under contract long-term, the Mavericks do not have much “wiggle-room” financially right now, which is why using this trade exception is going to be key for them adding more talent to their roster. 

Tomas Satoransky can not only be a primary facilitator and ball-handler when Doncic is off-the-court for this team, but he can also compliment Doncic when he is in the lineup as an off-ball point guard. 

In Chicago last year, Satoransky shot 35.6% from three-point range and in three games with the Czech Republic national team in the Olympic Games this past summer, Satoransky averaged 10.7 points, 5.7 rebounds, 8.7 assists and shot 35.3% from the floor.

Having both international and NBA playing experience, Tomas Satoransky brings a lot to the table for a playoff team like the Mavericks, especially since their two best players are also international players in Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis. 

With no risk to them in terms of acquiring Satoransky given their trade exception and the fact that he is in the final year of his contract, the Mavericks should welcome this trade with the New Orleans Pelicans.
