Detroit Pistons Receive: C Derrick Favors
Oklahoma City Thunder Receive: F Josh Jackson, G Cory Joseph

Believe it or not, the Detroit Pistons could easily get a deal done for Favors, especially since they have some very moveable contracts on their roster.

Other than Cade Cunningham, Jerami Grant and Saddiq Bey, Detroit could be willing to entertain offers for every one else on their roster, meaning that Josh Jackson and Cory Joseph could be two players they look to move at or before the trade deadline.

Josh Jackson was drafted 4th overall in 2017 and while he has bounced around the league early on in his career, he has seemed to find success in Detroit over the last year or so.

Now in his second season with the Pistons, Jackson has averaged 12.6 points, 4.1 rebounds, 2.3 assists and has shot 41.9% from the floor.

In the final year of his contract and being owed $5M, he is definitely an affordable secondary talent that plenty of teams around the league could utilize off the bench. He would be going to OKC in this trade outlined above, but the Oklahoma City Thunder could easily swing another deal to move him somewhere else should they not want to keep him this season.

As for Cory Joseph, he is a veteran point guard that the Detroit Pistons opted to re-sign this offseason, but he has not really been a factor for them. With Cade Cunningham and Killian Hayes leading this backcourt, Joseph has reverted to a bench role for the Pistons and is only seeing about 19.3 minutes per game.

Oklahoma City has Gilgeous-Alexander, Giddey and Maledon in their backcourt, but adding an experienced veteran ball-handler could go a long way in helping this team develop even further.

Having no use for Derrick Favors long-term, leveraging him now definitely has its benefits for the Thunder. While they would likely want to get a draft pick or two for him to add to their stockpile of draft assets over the years, both Joseph and Jackson definitely bring value to the Thunder because of the fact that they would not have to remain there.

Let’s break down this trade from each team’s perspective and truly see if this is a deal that we could end up seeing this season.
