Sacramento Kings Receive: F Taurean Prince, F Jake Layman, MIN 2022 1st Round Pick (Top-8 Protected)
Minnesota Timberwolves Receive: F Marvin Bagley III, C Damian Jones

Nothing about this trade screams value for the Kings off of first glance, but Taurean Prince is a really solid player in his own right. Now in his 6th season in the NBA, Prince has turned himself into a very viable two-way forward and could fit a whole the Kings are looking to fill.

Outside of Harrison Barnes, the Kings do not have much talent at their forward positions without Bagley on the court. Maurice Harkless has filled a key role at the power-forward position, but Prince could bring a whole new element of defensive fortitude to this team.

Taurean Prince is not the best defender, but he is a physical player that gives it his all on the floor, which is the type of player Sacramento needs to replace Marvin Bagley III with. As for his numbers, Prince is also a factor offensively, shooting 36.7% from deep over the course of his career and averaging around 11.0 points per game for his career.

Jake Layman is not much of a threat for the Kings to add, but he is a solid three-point shooter for them to have on their bench as depth. The best part about adding Prince and Layman though is that they are in the final years of their contracts.

Sacramento would not be tied down to either of these guys past this season, immediately freeing up over $16M in cap space that they will have to play around with next offseason. As for the Minnesota Timberwolves, they need more talent to make the playoffs this year and Marvin Bagley would certainly be a big acquisition for them.

Maybe they would not keep him past this season, but this team has to be willing to take risks if they are to turn themselves into a real threat in the Western Conference. This would definitely be a step in the right direction, but sacrificing a first-round pick this year could be too much for Minnesota to do.
