Minnesota Timberwolves Receive: F Thaddeus Young, C Damian Jones
San Antonio Spurs Receive: F Marvin Bagley III, G/F Leandro Bolmaro, MIN 2022 2nd Round Pick
Sacramento Kings Receive: F Taurean Prince, F Keita Bates-Diop, WAS 2022 2nd Round Pick (via MIN), SAS 2024 2nd Round Pick

Thaddeus Young does not have a toxic relationship with the San Antonio Spurs, even though they have intentions of trading him this season, but the complete opposite can be said in regards to the Sacramento Kings and their former second overall pick in Marvin Bagley III.

It is no secret that the Kings have tried to trade Bagley for over a year now, but they have been unwilling to part ways with him because they have not received the value they would like.

Sources have told NBA Analysis Network that the Kings are wanting “first-round value” in a trade for Marvin Bagley this season, something many teams are not willing to give up at the moment.

Bagley has only played in one game for 10 minutes this season and it does not seem he wants to be a member of the Kings any longer than he needs to be at this point. His agent Jeff Schwartz released a statement at the beginning of the season on the Kings mishandling his client’s role over the years.

Recently against the Suns on Monday, matters have not gotten any better as Marvin Bagley III appeared to refuse to go in the game against Phoenix.

Sacramento is going to have to move Bagley at some point because the situation is just getting worse and worse. For a team trying to end a 15-season playoff drought, the Kings are going to need to salvage whatever kind of value they can for Bagley, hence why they could be interested in being the third team involved in a Spurs-Timberwolves trade for Thaddeus Young.

Moving Marvin Bagley and Damian Jones for Taurean Prince and Keita Bates-Diop is not the best value in the word from a “win-now” perspective, but the Kings would be adding two second-round picks to their draft capital over the years.

Keita Bates-Diop recently signed a new three-year deal with the Spurs and cannot be traded until December 6, but this is a trade we would most likely see closer to the trade deadline in February 2022 anyways, so there is no concern in regards to moving Bates-Diop and his contract.

The Timberwolves would be increasing their experience and depth, the Spurs would be adding on to their young core with Bagley and Bolmaro and for the Kings, they get Prince and Bates-Diop, two guys who can play right away to try and help them breakthrough in the Western Conference playoff picture.
