Does this trade make sense for the Philadelphia 76ers?

Finding some way to move Ben Simmons for Jaylen Brown would be a huge success for the Philadelphia 76ers given all the drama they have dealt with over the last few months. How they would make this trade work is unknown given the Boston Celtics circumstances right now, but they should absolutely want to add Brown at the expense of Simmons.

Being an All-Star on the wing and only being 25-years-old, Jaylen Brown is a player that could fit in next to Tobias Harris (29) and Joel Embiid (27) for many years to come.

The 76ers would remain at the top of the standings in the Eastern Conference as championship contenders after making this trade and they would honestly be a better defensive team than they were with Simmons playing.

Jaylen Brown took some tremendous strides last season as an all-around threat on the court, especially with him becoming an elite-level two-way player. The numbers may not always say so, but Brown is one of the best two-way wings in the league and is an All-Defensive type of player.

Having the ability to fill many different roles for the 76ers next to Embiid and Harris, this trade would enable the Philadelphia 76ers to contend for championships over the course of the next several years and they would still have the ability to add more talent if they chose to do so.

Damian Lillard has been the guy Daryl Morey and the 76ers have had their eyes on for a while now and with Portland not looking like a championship threat right now, his future in Portland remains a big question mark.

By making this trade with the Celtics, the 76ers would obviously set themselves up for success this year, but they would also still be in a position to go after Lillard should he become available in trade talks during the 2022 offseason or sometime else down the road.

Whether it is Jaylen Brown, Tobias Harris or someone else, the 76ers would have the assets around Joel Embiid to make any kind of move they would want, especially one to acquire another MVP-like player in Lillard.

If the reports are true about the Celtics reaching out to the Philadelphia 76ers in regards to Ben Simmons, then the Sixers should remain stern on the fact that they want Jaylen Brown and nothing else. He is the guy that can push them over the edge in the Eastern Conference and finally provide some stability within this organization for many years to come.
