How This Trade Impacts Orlando Magic
The Orlando Magic are likely going to trade Terrence Ross at some point. He has been on the block for a while, but they have yet to find a deal that they like. They are looking to snag a first-round pick in a return package, and in this hypothetical deal with the Boston Celtics, they achieve that.
Holding out for a first-round pick makes sense for Orlando. Ross isn’t a rental, as he is signed to an affordable deal through 2023. He is owed $24 million between this season and next, a reasonable number for a potential Sixth Man of the Year candidate.
With the youth movement in motion in Orlando, they could now give even more minutes to the young players on the team with Ross no longer in the equation. They would also get a look at Romeo Langford, a first-round pick from the 2019 NBA Draft. He has been buried on the depth chart in Boston but could thrive with more playing time with the Magic.
He was a top prospect in his recruiting class and went No. 14 overall to the Celtics. Injuries have been an issue for him, but the talent is certainly there.

The first-round pick would be a valuable asset for Orlando, especially if the Celtics continue to struggle and miss the postseason. Adding a first-round pick is nice, but if it is a lottery pick, it becomes that much more valuable.
