How This Trade Impacts Boston Celtics
It has mostly been a two-man show to start the season for the Boston Celtics. Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown are doing almost all of the heavy lifting for the team and it is creating some turmoil.
Starting point guard Marcus Smart called them out after their most recent game against the Bulls, saying they need to pass the ball more. We will see the impact that has on the team, but they could use another scorer on the roster.
The team traded away Kemba Walker in the offseason and Evan Fournier departed in free agency, both ending up with the New York Knicks. That was a lot of offensive firepower they lost and they failed to truly replace it.
Acquiring Terrence Ross would certainly help fill that void. He would provide instant offense off the bench for a team that already has constantly been changing lineups with seven different players starting games and five different combinations already being used.
The bench unit has struggled to produce, especially when Dennis Schroder is inserted into the starting five. Ross can help change that and bring some stability to the second unit if Udoka wants to leave Schroder in the starting lineup.

He would certainly be an upgrade over Romeo Langford, but ownership might have a pause when it comes to trading a first-round pick. If the team shows some improvement and looks like a playoff contender, they might be more amenable to it. But, if the losses continue piling up, they would likely want to retain that pick and use it to add an impact prospect for themselves.
