Sacramento Kings Receive: F/C Kristaps Porzingis, G Trey Burke, DAL 2025 1st Round Pick (Lottery-Protected)
Dallas Mavericks Receive: F Marvin Bagley III, G/F Buddy Hield, SAC 2023 1st Round Pick (Top-5 Protected), SAC 2023 2nd Round Pick, SAC 2025 2nd Round Pick (Top-50 Protected)
Moving Kristaps Porzingis’ contract for that of Buddy Hield’s is not too favorable for the Dallas Mavericks, but they would wind up saving themselves $40M over the next three years just based on the difference in contracts.
Since joining the Kings, Buddy Hield has consistently been a three-point scoring threat on the wing and has continued to be an offensive weapon in Sacramento, but the Kings seem to be ready to move on from the 28-year-old sharpshooter.
This offseason, the Kings and Lakers had a trade lined up that would send Hield to Los Angeles in exchange for Kyle Kuzma, Montrezl Harrell and some other assets, but this trade fell through at the last moment when the Lakers decided to acquire Russell Westbrook from the Wizards instead.
After knowing he was going to be traded, Hield remained on the Kings roster, creating a somewhat awkward situation between player and management. Things seem to be a lot better between Buddy Hield and the Kings compared to that of Marvin Bagley’s situation with the team, but they do seem eager to try and trade Hield if possible.

De’Aaron Fox needs another key scoring talent next to him if this team is going to make the playoffs and maybe having a 7’3” big man in Kristaps Porzingis is what he needs. Injuries and durability is a concern for Porzingis, but he has not been terrible in Dallas, averaging 20.1 points, 9.1 rebounds, 1.7 blocks and has shot 35.8% from three-point range since joining the Mavericks.
This kind of production next to Fox could be exactly what the Kings need to make a real playoff push this season, but is this a trade both teams should wind up pursuing?
